Queen moved into mini outworld

Hello,

After receiving my new sugar ants today I had made them move into a new test tube. All was well until I found the queen sitting in the mini enclosed out world. The workers seemed to ignore her for a while but just recently they have moved brood into there. There are about ten workers will this matter if the queen is not directly on the test tube water source?

Thanks

Can we have pictures of your setup? It sounds like you didn't have the tube plugged with cotton.

Heres a photo of it, what do you mean by putting cotton in the tube?

Try putting something light tight over the test tube to make it dark and cozy, maybe that will make here go back home ;)

Since your having issues with he test tube portal set up, It would be best to disconnect the tube from the portal. Somehow gently get the queen back in the tube. Plug the end with cotton. She doesn't think of the tube as home, so I would leave the tube plugged for a day, and keep it in a dark, quiet place. No peeking. After she has calmed down a bit, and recognises that the tube is a safe place, use a one inch section of drinking straw wedged between the exit cotton and the side of the tube to act as a tunnel for the workers to forage, then set the whole tube in a tupperware container with a barrier. Make sure the tube is wrapped in something to keep it dark. Campo. Is very susceptible to issues from stress. Thin white paper isn't going to cut it. Red photography paper works as you can still see whats going on but they think it's dark. You could aso use dark colored construction paper or cardstock. Later you might be able to use the portal again, but for now the opening is too large and she is confused about where she is supposed to be.
