Help figuring out what to do
Hi im new to ant keeping, but I had a couple questions regarding what I should do. I found 5 super ant colonies, and I mean they are SUPER. One of the ant hill entrances to one colony measured a 8ft circle and a 3.5ft height off the ground. You could barley see the ground under the ants. The smallest of the 5 measured a circle just over ft and height of 2ft. What should I do? Have you ever seen such big colonies? Please let me know what I should do, I will upload pictures in a couple days when I go recheck on them.

There's a high chance these are Formica ant nests, their nests are HUGE, some of them can be bigger than the ones you found. If you can, after rain, you can check their nests for nuptial flights (lots of winged ants outside the nest) and then you can find some queens away from the nests (DO NOT catch them while their in or on their nest, they are going to be infertile).
