I'm going to start helping out my friend with his Solenopsis ant farm.I want to know any suggestions how i could help him out finding queens and taking care of his ant farm.I hope I can help him out as much as I can.

You can try and look after a rainy day. Basically the day after. Sometimes there are ants waiting for good weather so they can fly and sometimes they are just not ready yet. But chances are high if it has rained the day before.
Doing some proper research is the best way to start an antcolony.
