test tube help...

When I first started ant keeping I bought these screw on test tubes that are bigger then normal test tubes. My colony is getting bigger so I bought a ac portal to act as an out world the problem is that since the test tube is bigger I can’t properly connect the test tube and when I connect it incorrectly the ants need to climb up to get into the portal and they can’t for some reason. please help me also my grammar is pretty bad so don’t judge me pls.

You can put their test tube in a small tub with ant barrier like baby powder so they can use the tub as outworld and can easily get back in the test tube
