They are found in Europe, Asia, and parts of Africa.
I was wondering if the ants in africa act differently to the ones in northern Europe, as the weather is different, would this affect the hibernation behavior?
In Europe they hibernate ( fact )
In Africa do they hibernate ( question 1 )
( Question 2 ) would depend on the answer to question 1,,,,, ??

Re: Camponotus Vagus
Ants living in tropical areas dont hibernate. So ants in northern or central Africa dont hibernate

Re: Camponotus Vagus
It actually depends on the range of the ants, for example in Florida, a sub-tropical/tropical area, Odontomachus that live further up north will go through diapause, and some ants here like Camponotus Floridanus don’t require diapause or hibernation, but they can undergo it if nessecary.Antloverhuman wrote: ↑Sat Mar 12, 2022 2:52 amAnts living in tropical areas dont hibernate.
