Most things sold have a space for a heating element or cable. What is this and do you have an example?
I went to the local pet shop and all they have there are heating pads..
My searches in Amazon and the internet in general were not useful either.

Thank you for your assistance.

Yeah, I once had 2 Lasius queens I put under a heating pad on low, and they were cooked. I never tried that again. So overheating ants is easier than it may seem.

Thanks for the replies. Yeah, the intent is not to cook, but to get to a outside-like temp.
It's getting cooler here, so I will let them alone to allow for hibernation.
Trying to ID these ladies to better prepare them, wonder if they will co-hab?

I haven't tried a heating pad, but I did buy this heating cable from Amazon: https://www.amazon.com/Zoo-Med-Reptile-Cable-11-5-Feet/dp/B001LQUZAM?keywords=heating+cable&qid=1540756097&sr=8-23&ref=sr_1_23

It's a low power, 15 Watt cable made for reptile enclosures. I set it up with the AC test tube rack and my Crematogaster queens seemed to like it. As soon as it heated up, they were resting against the cotton facing the cable, as close to it as they could get. The only downside I could see is they seemed to use up their water supply faster afterwards.
