Hey everyone! My name is Andrew and I am from Vancouver, Canada. I found this queen about two weeks ago and has recently laid two or three orange coloured eggs. She is about 15mm long and is black with a red tinted thorax. Any ideas on what species it is? I am new to ant keeping so I have no idea.
Thanks!

Re: Identification Help
I think she is Camponotus noveboracensis. I kept this species last year. They are my favorite species! Good luck!

Re: Identification Help
Thanks for the insight! Is it normal for ants to lay orange coloured eggs? I have only seen white ones.
Re: Identification Help
I have had Camponotus hyatti queens that laid orange colored eggs before. It is a little uncommon I believe, but should be fine.AndrewT2580 wrote:Thanks for the insight! Is it normal for ants to lay orange coloured eggs? I have only seen white ones.
