I caught this lovely lady in august. When I caught her, I was not even sure that it was an ant, since it is so small and different looking then my Flavus and Niger queens.
But I put her in a test tube to see if something would happen. She had wings when caught, landed right in front of me on a table.
For a long time, she was not pleased being in the tube. Compared to the other species I have, they are very calm and content with being in the tubes.
I was worried that she would die if not fed, so I gave her honey almost from the start. And she drank it right away.
Well fast forward to now, she has 1 larva and some eggs. (she was caught with wings and had a hard time removing them, so they where almost black when they finally came off)
I think shes a myrmica rubra but I am not sure. Could you confirm or tell me what she is ?

Yes, Myrmica sp but it's very hard to tell what species.
She will need hibernation before she lays eggs and needs to be fed during colony founding.
Good luck!
