Help with identifying queen ant please
Caught in north america. Eastern ontario. She has a nice hint of red to her body. Roughly 1/2 inch length with antennas. Caught her four days ago, need to know species so i can properly care for them.

Proverbs 6:6-8
Go to the ant, you sluggard;
consider its ways and be wise!
It has no commander,
no overseer or ruler,
yet it stores its provisions in summer
and gathers its food at harvest.

Re: Help with identifying queen ant please
Yeah I know that species. It's one of those Eastern Ontario queens isn't it? Very lovely those pictures you've posted. I mean I can see cleary what queen it is and she looks amazing.
Enough of the mocking now.
DarcyLusignan, please give us the following informations perhaps in this order:
-Where? Country/State and inside a forest, the sidewalk of a park or inside a town. Like describe the location or perhaps give us a googlemaps link with the coordinates.
-The lenghth in mm/cm please. Inches are too unprecise.
-When exactly? Date and time if possible. Between 12 am and 1 pm would suffice for example.
-More details about the ant itself. What does she do? Is she moving fast or slow or just sitting arround? Does it look as if she can climb glass? (90° ankled of course) Anything about the colours which can't be seen properly on the pictures below.
-Pictures. Give us pictures uploaded to imgure or something. You can post the link or try to post them with the img button. Make sure that the pictures are as clear as possible. Perhaps place the camera a bit further away and zoom in if that improves the quality of the picture. Perhaps also use some light but don't take too much time so the queen can stay calm.
Please share these informations with us so we can help you to identify the queen properly and provide you with informations on how to care for the colony.
Doing some proper research is the best way to start an antcolony.
