Is this an ant?

As the subject says, is this even an Ant? I caught this insect in a meadow wandering around between the grass. I live west of Turin/Italy.
The only thing I noticed is that it has some big and strong mandibles and I'm not sure but the gaster might have a stinger(?)

Wingless wasp sp. It bears an extremely painful sting so better to release sooner than later.
An ants' strength can be rivaled by few animals compared to relative body size.

As an extra tip, if you do catch a queen ant, make the water section of the tube bigger. This supply won't last her very long and will bring extra stress when you have to move her to a new tube everytime they run out of water.
First year of antkeeping, already enjoying it!

Currently founding:

Lasius niger
Lasius umbratus
Lasius flavus

Still hoping to find a Formica queen.

Yes, I know. I usually do that and this test tube setup was made by my brother (and it was his first one). I only used it for "temporary housing". Here's an example of one I made

Thanks for the tip anyway, they're always appreciated :)

Sorry for the late response.
Yes, while my brother is learning to keep ants with me he's also teaching me to care for an acquarium. We're actually enjoying both! :D
