New here and was hoping on a bit of an ID.
I think this may be a drone; however; because I am so new at this I would appreciate a confirmation on that :). Caught it today at about 11:30 am in Alberta. Its about 1 cm long.
If you guys / gals need any more info just ask :). THX!

Well... Maybe I was wrong. 1 wing off now. But I am wondering what those lil appendage like structures are on its underparts if its a queen??? :?:

Looks more like Formica Podzolica rather than Camponotus.
An ants' strength can be rivaled by few animals compared to relative body size.

well i was looking up camponotus in Alberta and none look like her. I will get more pics in the morning i guess but i just have my phone camera. I'll see what i can do without disturbing her too much.

Could be right. for some reason i have a hard time with Formica and Camponotus. Batspierfish usually corrects me.
