Southern Wisconsin Ant ID

Hello,

I'm new to antkeeping, and have been out hunting for queens. I rescued this gal from my pool earlier today, and she's quite unlike any other ants I've seen around here. I'm not quite even sure if she is a queen, but I figured I'd come to the experts to see if I could get an ID on this one.

I caught her in southern Wisconsin, and she is about 9ish mm in length. There are picture of her below, but let me know if there's anything else that would be helpful!

I think that's a velvet ant, not a true ant but a wingless wasp, I hear they have a nasty thing so look out!
