I cought these two ant queens today. At least I think they are queens, I am fairly new to antkeeping. Could someone please tell me the species of these two ants. I would also like to know whether they are parasitic or not. If they are parasitic I will most likely relese them back into the wild because I do not think I have enough experience to introduce them to another colony. Thanks in advance.
First one is about 12mm long:

And the second one is around 10mm long:

Re: Queen ID: Slovenia
The first queen is most likely Formica, but it's at a difficult angle to say for sure.
The second queen is Lasius sp.
The second queen is Lasius sp.
If you enjoy my expertise and identifications, please do not put wild populations at risk of disease by releasing pet colonies. We are responsible to give our pets the best care we can manage for the rest of their lives.
