Hi I found a queen in Perth WA and it is nearly completely red in light but in the image it looks black. found in end of April. about 8mm long. idk if u can see but it only has 1 antenna.

I'm no taxonomist but that looks pretty solidly like Pheidole. You'll need clearer photos for a more positive ID though. Try to get front and side profile shots as well.
I've kept several species from this genus, they're very easy to care for. They're granivorous and insectivorous, and prefer about 40% humidity.

She must have gotten banged up to have lost an antenna, but I'm sure she'll calm down soon enough. Eggs can take anywhere from overnight to 3 weeks to appear depending on her mood. But they'll start to hatch 2-3 weeks later.
