I'm also from WA Australia.

Wow, how are you still finding queens? I've been looking, but I have only seen about 2 or 3 in this autumn, and they were all Lasius Niger (except for one crematogaster queen).

Do you know when Crematogasters are having nuptial flights? I have Crematogaster Cerasi (black), but I really want to find the crematogaster queen that has brown workers. They weren't flying in large numbers in the spring or summer, so I assume it would have to be autumn, unless I completely missed it.
Go to the ant, O sluggard,
Observe her ways and be wise,
Which, having no chief,
Officer or ruler,
Prepares her food in the summer
And gathers her provision in the harvest.

According to antflights.com in the south hemisphere crematogaster ants have their nuptial flights in January and October. Also according to antflights.com in the south hemisphere camponotus ants have their nuptial flights in October.
My current colonies:
-Miniature Military(formica neogagates)
-Black Hearts(crematogaster cerasi)
In search of new camponotus colony

There are a few native species having nuptial flights right now. One of those similar to the ant that was originally posted in this post. Iridomyrmex and Pheidole. Do you have any pictures of the ant you caught? You might have a native species. Because correct me if I am wrong, but Lasius queens are quite uncommon in Australia. We have Crematogasters for sure but I don’t hear much about Lasius queens.

Wait... really??

They looked exactly like Lasius Niger. Am I blind or something?

I thought they might be Iridomermyx but their workers were all black. Wow now I really don't know what species it is

I thought so I didn’t want to clear them out for sure but all our small black ants here are generally Iridomyrmex.

Here’s a picture of my Iridomyrmex queen here RiceAnt and you can see if she looks anything like yours. If you send a picture I could help you out.

Iridomyrmex bicknelli workers are all black. They are known as rainbow ants because their gasters reflect a greenish colour in the light.
