Yellow queen

I found a queen and she is yellow-ish, I will take closer pictures once I know her genus.

She is 9mm, I think shes lasius niger.

Lasius niger has been confirmed as found once by hobbyists in the past ten years, in the rocky mountains. There are lots of other Lasius which would make more sense. I would say Lasius neoniger is most likely.

Oh, ok thanks a lot, are they a fun species that I should keep, do they normally hibernate before laying eggs.

Yeah! I think Lasius are really charming ants to keep. She won't be laying eggs until next spring, but there will probably be a lot of them.
