Did I find my first queen?

I was walking on the sidewalk and I found this ant running around, and I got her. But is she a queen, after doing some picture comparison looks like a male.

I also notice a nest with a whole bunch of ants, some had wings and they were taking off. I had to go home because it started to rain. When should I go back and look for queen(s),after the rain or tommorow morning? It's 7:00opm right now.

Female Alate - We'll Need Closer Shots To Properly ID Her To A Genus Name.

I agree with Phoenix: that it's a female alate. And to repeat, we really need more clear photos. And if you look at the gaster, you can see it's not an ant species you see every day. So you got luck with that: I only caught common ant queens. But if you got time, take better pictures.

Glad to help, Brentywenty.

A queen from the Dolichoderinae subfamily. More important than extra pictures, a measurement and location would be required to identify her.

Thank you.
I'll see if I can borrow a camera later and measure her.

Brachymyrmex is in the Formicinae subfamily, however I agree that Forelius is most likely. Were you thinking Dorymyrmex?
