Lasius social parasite

Caught another Lasius social parasite tonight. Not sure what species she is though. I caught a murphyi in the same area a couple of weeks ago, but I'm not seeing the fuzziness I saw on the murphyi.

She's a bit wet because I pushed the cotton down a bit below the water line before putting her in.

This is either another Lasius murphyi or a hybrid. I wouldn't be able to tell what cross from these images, unfortunately. The Acanthomyops group readily hybridizes, and may even use it to sabotage the reproductive viability of close relatives they compete with.
If you enjoy my expertise and identifications, please do not put wild populations at risk of disease by releasing pet colonies. We are responsible to give our pets the best care we can manage for the rest of their lives.
