Hi there,Antmanboy wrote: ↑Wed Feb 19, 2020 4:50 pmCan you help with my queen caught her February 2nd 2020 she's pretty small what throwing me off is that I caught her it Texas at the end of winter has a stinger and was wandering in my driveway I would appreciate the help p.s hasn't laid eggs yet possibly do to stress and the fact that it's still winter.https://drive.google.com/file/d/13JE6bZm_c_N3OJmghGS6OOn0ekUkAje8/view?usp=drivesdk copy and paste this link into the search bar (if your on phone press down on it highlight it select copy and then paste) hopeful keeper of whatever her species is
Congratulations on your find! You said that she's about 7 mm long and has a stinger, which tells me that it might be some kind of Crematogaster sp. queen although the picture is very blurry. Try taking a picture from above as well as from the side (and maybe from a bit much further away). Also, Crematogaster tend to fly in late autumn sometimes, altough I wouldn't be surprised if they flew in winter too, because of the high temperatures (climate change). Anyway, if it isn't Crematogaster then you can always make another post. Good luck

Re: Queen Ant Identification
I caught what I think is a queen ant have her in a test tube setup right now if someone can identify and tell me if she is a queen or not that would be helpful. I caught her today 2/24/20 in ohio so I'm thinking it's a winter ant but I'm not sure lol. Its hard to get a length on her cause she wont sit still for 1 second but she's roughly 4-6mm in length. I do have an ok picture of her but I dont have to best camera. I dont know how to put a picture on here someone please help with that as well. Thank you.

Re: Queen Ant Identification
Could anyone help identify this queen. My daughter caught her last September in New Hampshire, and the ant started laying eggs sometime in the last week of February. She's about 12 mm long (1/2 inch). Any ideas would be helpful. Thanks.

Perhaps it could be a Pheidole megacephala (Big-headed Ant)phoenixmastm wrote: ↑Sat Jun 16, 2018 9:36 pm8mm at most, red & black with a red fading to black gaster
What's throwing me off is that she has a squarish head.
Or even better a Solenopsis invicta (Fire Ant)!

Forgive the crap pic, only have the cam on my smartphone and she isn't very big (8mm at most, red & black with a red fading to black gaster).
