Hello, first post here and also my first queen catches! about a week ago i got home from uni to see hundreds of queens on my driveway. I got what things i could to keep the safely and just watched them for ages, eventually picking 3 that seemed cool.

Here are the best pics i could get, it took a while for me to get them since my camera isn't great.

Fully-Claustral Queen, For Sure.
Probably Camponotus / Iridomyrmex; Something From The Formicinae Subfamily.

Doubtful, Iridomyrmex flies in your spring and summer.

That is irrelevant since we have had Iridomyrmyx flights the past two weeks in NSW.

In Australia we have had quite wacky weather.

While a possibility, I am still skeptical. I want measurements before any guesses are made.

The measurements of the pictured queen was tough to get because she was always moving, but it was very close to 10-12mm.

Thanks for the responses everyone.

Thanks for measurements! Is it possible at all to get clearer photos? It could be either Camponotus or Iridomyrmex.

Took her out to get some more photos, but my camera just doesn't like focusing easily on small objects. These are the best i could get, but i think they are actually not bad compared to the first ones.
