Size: Around the same size as black carpenter ant majors (not super majors, just regular majors)
When: Approximately 4pm EST, June 5th 2023
Where: Recently (3 months ago) cleared part of a forested area near a pond in Northern Indiana.
Appearance: I think the pictures show it better than I can describe it, but all of them were big, hardly any difference in size between the different workers.
Behaviour: They were digging out their nest methodically. when they would see me get too close, they would run back into their nest for a minute until they figured I was not a threat anymore. When captured, frantically tried to escape.

Why keep ants that aren't found in your yard?
There are so many fascinating ants right where you live!
I disagree with the keeping/buying of ants that aren't in your area.
