Request for Identification
Size: Roughly 19mm
When: Found May 29th at around 6:30 pm
Where: Found in a suburban area of a small city in an area of moderate tree coverage and near a river.
Appearance: The queen in question possesses a body ratio of roughly 4>2>1 for her abdomen, thorax, and head. Her chitin is reflective black.
Behavior: Due to not planning on catching the queen prior to encountering her I have placed her in a large glass jar with substrate on the bottom, and ensured that there is sufficient airflow. I have also covered the jar in a dark cloth. After 30 minutes had passed she has entered a calm state and has only moved around the vessel occasionally.

Additionally: While I am unable to get a clearer picture I can confirm that she does possess wing scars. And if any additional information would aid in identification I would be happy to answer.

Presently I'm just trying to work out a setup for her as I don't have a test tube setup as I didn't plan on catching any ants.Antloverhuman wrote: ↑Tue May 30, 2023 1:37 amYou have a lot of research to do buddy if you need more help feel free to ask anything, we'll help youTrueCellites wrote: ↑Tue May 30, 2023 1:19 amI think you are correct, ill do further research on the species. thank you for the help!

Why keep ants that aren't found in your yard?
There are so many fascinating ants right where you live!
I disagree with the keeping/buying of ants that aren't in your area.
