Do ants hibernate in hot places like Dubai?
Since Dubai can go up to 40° C in the summer and as cold as 25°C in the winter
I'm not sure if ants can even hibernate in Dubai unless it has nothing to do with the weather but only the season

I'm pretty sure they don't, hibernation depends on the season.

But we still have the season, it’s just not as cold

If it's warm enough they probably won't hibernate.TinaBlackthorne wrote: ↑Mon Nov 28, 2022 3:34 amBut we still have the season, it’s just not as cold

Oh ok thanks

I’ve heard Dubai only has two seasons. Be careful about some Camponotus species though, as they have a built-in hibernation clock. Anyways, your ants should be fine as long as they are in warm conditions. Just be careful if you are keeping exotic ants because temperature drops may cause them to die.TinaBlackthorne wrote: ↑Mon Nov 28, 2022 2:33 amSince Dubai can go up to 40° C in the summer and as cold as 25°C in the winter

I found this ant outside and you can’t really see the garter properly but it’s kinda striped all over the gaster
I think it’s a crematogaster mimosae but im not sure

Either they don't hibernate or they have periods where they don't lay eggs for a week or month. At least the native ants do that to the best of my knowledge.TinaBlackthorne wrote: ↑Mon Nov 28, 2022 2:33 amSince Dubai can go up to 40° C in the summer and as cold as 25°C in the winter

Doing some proper research is the best way to start an antcolony.
