Hi all!
Just in my backyard with my broken knee trying to find some queens. It had been the warmest humid day since summer so I knew some early nuptial flights would be taking place. Found a couple on the concrete. I only caught 1, might try get some more tomorrow. Anyways, here is the info and I attached a imagur link. It would also be great if someone could tell me if they are polymorphic (many queens in a conoly) because there are many queens running around, so I might be able to grow the future colony faster. Thanks!
Date: 21/10/22
Weather: 24 degrees Celsius, humid (warmest day in months), cloudy, no wind.
Location: Mornington Peninsula, Victoria, Australia. Residential zone however close to paddocks and trees.
Queen details: just under 1 cm long, fat abdomen (all the ones I saw seemed the abdomen looked somewhat flattened), 3 yellow-brown bands running through the abdomen, dark red/brown legs, common species in the area, thorax and head pure black.
