Help identify
Size: unsure but this is a normal Qtip for size comparison
When: <2:30 PM >
Where: in sage tundra but worked soil of garden
Appearance: elongated gaster, yellow tufts of what looks like fur
Behaviour: <crawling between the cotton at the end of tube away from water and just trying to crawl there>

Maybe, but I have heard that cow killers are larger. Maybe that's not true though.

Really depends what sp. The one shown, is indeed a "cow killer" There is also "mini" velvet ants, which are like 5mm and sting do not hurt nearly as bad.
