Hi, I'm hoping someone can help me with this ID. I found these ants in a tree stump in the woods. Here are the details:
Size: the workers are about 5mm or so in size.
When: saw them today Sept 25th, around 3pm.
Where: Forest
Appearance: please see video for more detail, but what stood out was the red gaster and dark thorax and head.
Behaviour: fairly calm overall. did not react aggressively to my presense.
