Size: unknown
When: today (17/8/2022) at 7:30am
Where: desert/mountain/ sagebrush like flat plain terrain
Appearance:dark red, a little on the larger side for queens kind of orange rings around the gas tire
Behaviour: cleaning herself and bends gasture in to seemingly clean the tip
Picture(s):
Photos attached will try to add more
Additionally: father says that the red ant hills that litter the property don’t seem to go after meat and protein but focus mainly on seeds from what he has observed. I am thinking despite that they are solonopsis (fire ants) but they do seem more docile and less aggressive

The common Pogomyrmex occidentalis. The only deregulated species in the entire U.S. I recommend some Tarheel ant videos on them, here is a care guide.(Don’t fall for the marketing schemes, they can be raised in tubes)

Did you find any more? They had a mass flight a few weeks ago. I see you live in Utah? I highly recommend following this thread

Yes there are LOADS of them and I have at least 20 of them most I’m hoping to put on the GAN once I can get them to the first batch of niantics. Thank you a lot!

Also keep in mind, you can ship these ants anywhere in the Continental US except California and Florida legally.
