Queen Ant Identification.
Why keep ants that aren't found in your yard?
There are so many fascinating ants right where you live!
I disagree with the keeping/buying of ants that aren't in your area.

Formica fusca group. I doubt you will get a confident ID without a worker specimen under a microscope. If I had to guess, Formica subsericeaantperson24 wrote: ↑Tue Aug 09, 2022 3:12 pmSize: 14mm

Ok thanks. She is definitely different than some other Formica I have kept. Is there a smaller species that you know of that looks like her and has brown legs? Because I have a colony of the smaller ones.SolenopsisKeeper wrote: ↑Wed Aug 10, 2022 6:47 amFormica fusca group. I doubt you will get a confident ID without a worker specimen under a microscope. I will list two synonyms of Formica Fusca(American version), but there is more I cannot list.SolenopsisKeeper wrote: ↑Wed Aug 10, 2022 6:47 amFormica fusca group. F. Argenta
F. Subsericea
I only keep subsericea so I wouldn’t know. Besides, there is almost no Formica that are black like that in my area.
