Why keep ants that aren't found in your yard?
There are so many fascinating ants right where you live!
I disagree with the keeping/buying of ants that aren't in your area.

Ontario is my specialty! You are correct that she is myrmica sp. But she could just as easilly be one of these native species:
Myrmica alaskensis
Myrmica americana
Myrmica brevispinosa
Myrmica detritinodis
Myrmica fracticornis
Myrmica incompleta
Myrmica latifrons
Myrmica lobifrons
Myrmica nearctica
Myrmica pinetorum
Myrmica punctiventris
Myrmica sculptilis
Myrmica spatulata

I once had a smal colony of myrmica alaskensis and I know they are common. Myrmica rubra is an exotic species for Ontario, just so you know. I do have a question, in the last link, there is a video of a colony having their nuptial flight. Did you dirrectly take her from that cluster or did you find here elsewhere? Please inform us if she sheds her wings. Let us know if you need any help or what-not!
My current colonies:
-Miniature Military(formica neogagates)
-Black Hearts(crematogaster cerasi)
In search of new camponotus colony
[Have a look at antmaps.org]
