I haven't given her lots of food because she's very picky about her food :(
I think the larva hasn't got enough protein to spin a cocoon.
Is it bad if the larva doesnt spin a cocoon and just pupates?
It could mean that it doesn't have enough protein like you said, but if it is Myrmica (and I believe it is) this is nothing to worry about, as Myrmica larva don't spin cocoons.
Why keep ants that aren't found in your yard?
There are so many fascinating ants right where you live!
I disagree with the keeping/buying of ants that aren't in your area.

Ok thank you, maybe when the pupa has hatched it could give a clue to what species it is? :P :)

I have searched for black shiny myrmica ants but I haven't found anything. And I haven't found anything about myrmica ants living in the tropics

She's Polyrhachis rastellata or a related species.

Oh, Ok
Thank you!
I already thought she was a Polyrhachis species and there are ants in my area that look like her and are quite aggressive. If you blow on them they're immediately in defense or attack mode and stand really still with there abdomen under their body, ready to shoot acid.
I find that Polyrhachis ants are really cool but are defenately not a begginer species because of their pickyness of food. :(

True, I have been keeping ants for over 3 years and I never successfully raised Polyrhachis. And funny story, I once got a shiny golden Polyrhachis queen to lay eggs but then I forgot to feed her for a few days and she died. That's the furthest I got to raising them, I never got to the larvae stage.

My first queen was a Black spiky Polyrhachis queen ant she layed about 5 eggs. I sorta ended releasing her because i was scared she'd die of hunger, i put her test tube outside somwhere dark so she could forage for food and the test tube would be her home. Next day, the test tube was swarming with ants from my area (they look like fire ants but aren't that aggresive, eat alost everything, dont leave a white bud in your skin when stung, and burrow trough wood, they are very small and the queen is about 1cm) and the queen and eggs were gone  . I hope she made it out with her eggs to a new place :)
I read on Antstore website that "Polyrhachis Rastellata like Ocophyeola dont produce silkcocoons" so maybe it isnt bad there is a pupa instead of a cocoon.

Why not? If you kept them before, already keep them or want to keep in the future then go ahead. I think I remember the author of the original Camponotus Crew said you don't have to keep Camponotus in order to join but not entirely sure of that.
