Hello
I have some possible Pogonomyrmex californicus, but am curious does anyone know are the females indeed red as the workers and males black? Lot of a red but only a few blacks.
In central valley California.
Trying to capture some queens.
Typical pogonomyrmex behavior.
Thank you

The black ones are indeed males! Usually though, ants produce more males than females. Hopefully other colonies produce more males.Leetheflea wrote: ↑Wed May 25, 2022 12:41 pmHello

Ok thank you!!
Yah, I would assume the males will be more numerous soon, it's just now I saw these.
Last Friday I didn't see anything.
