I Found this wondering on a tree branch, can someone please identify the exact species of this ant queen?
It's black with a brownish thorax and has little hair on it's head with missive mandibles. Eggs are white. (second ant queen caught!)

Congrats on your find! Judging by the size in pictures given I would say it’s a Formica.sp (experts correct me if I’m wrong) unfortunately I can’t determine the exact species as it’s difficult for me personally with just pictures but here’s a site where you can compare your queen with others from Illinois https://www.antweb.org/taxonomicPage.do?rank=species&adm1Name=Illinois&countryName=United%20States&images=true ps. Make sure to select caste: queen in upper right corner
➪ Ant Colonies
• Pogonomyrmex occidentalis colony
• 3 Camponotus Sansabeanus colonies
• Camponotus Vicinus
• 1 Formica Fusca
• 5 Liometopum apiculatum
• Pogonomyrmex Pima
• Pogonomyrmex Barbatus
• pheidole queen

How many petiole segments? Looks small in first photo. If it has two, it is a Crematogaster queen, or acrobat ant queen, if one, it is likely what LaniLyne said(Formica) although I am not sure why it would be wandering on a branch…

Sounds close to right… I don’t know how big your finger is… defiantly claustral though

By Camponotus myrmentoma do you mean Camponotus nearcticus?
