Queen ID- Georgia, USA
anyone know what Sp. queen this is. she is a tiny bit bigger than my solenopsis invictas.
i found about ten of them running around after the rain, in the same spot.

I'm thinking solenopsis, looked very much like my queen. I couldbe wrong though.

Those pulp like protrusions on the legs are very intriguing. Wonder what they are for.

Re: Queen ID- Georgia, USA
I thought the ID of this queen was already determined on another forum? Anyway, it is absolutely not Solenopsis- not even a Myrmicinae genus. This is a Formicine and I would go for Formica cf. pallidefulva.
Re: Queen ID- Georgia, USA
a little more info on theses girls. maybe that will help with an ID.
-caught Aug-6-2015
-caught in georgia usa
-it was right after a rain in the late afternoon
-most of the queens were together. (im assuming a polygamist colony, maybe?)
-they are a bout twice the size of solenopsis invictas
-didnt see their flight, or very many males

Formica. cf. pallidefulva.
Also its polygynous not polygamist.
EDIT: Actually it does appear rather parasitic. Still something real close to Formica pallifefulva.
