Hi guys,
I was just wondering what type of queen I found 2 days ago 22/11/16 , it is a queen isn't it?
My mum found it at her work and thought that there was a ant colony inside taking over then saw that it was really big so brought it home for me :D
I live in Christchurch New Zealand (that were my mum found it)

I also found two queens about 8-9 weeks ago they now have eggs for about 7-8, I think they are the same type of ants. I found them out side my house on some brick work.

Please tell me if you know what type of ant they are and what I need to know about them

Thanks
Hugh

Yes that's a queen (you can see the wing scars) but I don't have enough knowledge to identify the species. Maybe someone else will know.
Ants kept
Nylanderia sp.
Camponotus sp.
Paratrechina Longicornis
Pheidole sp.

Iridomyrmex sp.

The other queens still look like Ochetellus to me.

Hi thanks for your quick replay,
I've looked them up and it does look like the one I have but there is one problem, they don't live where I live, they live 250 km away (as the crow fly)
Here is a map of where they are in nz
Image
I live in Christchurch on the bottom island (the south island) on the east coast (on the right side) where that poke out bit is.

Do you think they could live in Chirstchurch? That map was made in 2004

Thanks

Hugh

Yes they are found in Christchurch.

Are your other queens the same size?
