Re: Ant Queen Identification
What do you mean but the other option hasn’t been reported in your area(S. Xyloni)?
and how long should it take for the eggs to mature into workers? (Eggs first laid 10-11 days ago)

Honestly, it varies on conditions and don’t let anyone else tell you otherwise. Mine have had eggs for 2 and half weeks and no larvae yetMohammadmacapundag wrote: ↑Thu Jan 06, 2022 10:18 amWhat do you mean but the other option hasn’t been reported in your area(S. Xyloni)?

Throw her in a tube, leave her alone until first workers come. Within a few months, you will reach 100-500 workers, they love variety and humidity, and queen will lay a ton of eggs in small tubes.Mohammadmacapundag wrote: ↑Fri Jan 07, 2022 1:19 pmDo you have any advice on how to take care of them?

Yes. NEVER WET OUTWORLD SUBTRATE. THEY WILL DIG THROUGH, EVEN IF JUST A FEW DROPS. Also, make sure gets tube set up’s are pretty decent, and when checking on them with workers, make sure they are not burrowing through the Cotten. At the worker stage, make the tube sit at a slight angle so I’d it does flood, they have dry ground to retreat to. Otherwise, they are pretty easy to keep. I feed mine seeds, insects, protein jelly, and all sorts of items made in the kitchen.
Just don’t get bit

How panful is the sting? (I'm planning to get stung on purpose) And what about live insects I heard Fire ants are famous for their aggression. And is it okay to feed them live wasp when they hit more then a 100 workers.

Wasp is bad idea. Wasp can kill colony ez. They need at least 20 majors before that point. 500 workers is easy to reach, just a few weeks after first workers. There sting now… if they sting you multiple times, it is VERY painful. I once got on in the middle of my palm, and I had pain for weeks. There is still a small bump that does not seem like it will go away. The alates will readily sting, I had an alate who I picked with tweezers, and you could visibly see the stinger coming out and trying to sting the tweezers. I have some macro images I could post where you can see queens stinger. I would prob do on formiculture, and put link here, Becuase I hate imagur. The aggression does not kick in until they are hundreds, or thousands of workers strong. In dirt nest, they can be polygyny’s, but I am doing an experiment in a few weeks using an artificial nest to merge colonies. I will let you know when I get the workers, as I have 7 queens with eggs and larvae, but no pupae yet.Mohammadmacapundag wrote: ↑Sat Jan 08, 2022 7:15 amHow panful is the sting?
