As I am in Australia, I can confirm that the queens are colobopsis but I am worried if ur house is timber because it could signify a colony in your house. If ur fine with that, okay, I'm okay with it too. I have two pavement and one cromatergaster ant colony in my house, so I guess I can't complain. Also, I have never seen a fire ant colony here, so, i don't know. I have seen pheidole ants
Hey first and foremost, thanks very much for the positive I.D

Secondly, it’s not my house but I will certainly inform the owner as I’ve now found 1 x Camponotus and 2 x Colobopsis queens in a relatively short span of time.

Thirdly, I’ve been doing a little research and It appears as though Colobopsis may be a little difficult to keep for me personally considering my experience level. Having said that, I’m not entirely certain of the exact species and her specific requirements. They’re in tubes now so I’ll proceed with them and hope I can learn a little ol more about them in the coming weeks. Fingers crossed.

I wasn’t sure whether to post this here and it’s probably been done before but since the topic is being discussed here then as a matter of interest, a docco regarding Solenopsis invicta popped up on my YouTube feed that I promptly viewed and thought you all might find interesting as it addresses topics discussed here such as their use in science, survivability in cold weather and flooding etc. Despite the severely devastating impact they’re having on the environment and the consequences surrounding their undesired importation you will still surely find them a fascinating species.

Side Note: I inspected Camponotus this morning.
3 distinct Pupae and one Larvae spinning before my eyes. What an incredible sight behold.

Enjoy the video.

So after sitting there thinking I should have gotten a progress photo of the lady in question I went back an snapped a shot of her and please correct me if I’m mistaken but I see 4 pups, a larvae and a few more eggs. That larvae spinning up this morning must have completed just this moment?! Wow!

My god she is progressing fast. You wouldn’t believe how exited I am guys. :)

True, colobopsis is harder to keep than camponotus but they have generally the same needs.
