new ants

i was out feeding japanese beatles to my chickens whenn i spotted a group of about six ants one with a big gaster and some of them were drinking from the flower they were on and my first thought was they are leafcutter ants but i live in the midwest and they not like any leafcutter ants iv seen in pictures they are about half a centimeter to less than that long and are kinda brownish/grayish any tips on care or the kind of ant they are would be very helpful
p.s. i have put them in an ac ant tower that has both dirt and leaves just in case and i gave them a dandylion flower for nectar besides the flower they alreadyy are on and gave them a beatle leg for protein :D

It's highly unlikely they were leafcutter ants because leafcutter ant trails can get HUGE, up to hundreds of meters in length and may have over a thousand individuals. Leafcutter ants ONLY eat the fungus they grow from the leaves. Do you have any pictures? It would be much easier to tell with pictures.
