Hello everyone,
So yesterday I sad a very peculiar creature and I was surpised that something like and Ant Mimic existed here in Luxembourg. Since it is related to ants I would still like to give it a try and ask people if they could possibly identify this insect.

The color was mostly black with some redish and brown accents. It didn't have mandibles however it had something like a trunk instead that curved all the way to the ground it was walking on.
I had an ant close by that was about 5mm big so this insect was about 9mm - 12mm. I don't remember it too well. I'm sorry.
I don't know where exactly to ask such questions but if anyone got an idea, I would be glad to take it there as well for evaluation.

Probably not an ant but an ant mimic
Doing some proper research is the best way to start an antcolony.

Re: Probably not an ant but an ant mimic
I have seen the same insects in my area aswell, they are deffinetly some sort of beetle.
My current colonies:
-Miniature Military(formica neogagates)
-Black Hearts(crematogaster cerasi)
In search of new camponotus colony
[Have a look at antmaps.org]

It could also be a species of wingless wasp.
