Hey all, I need help identifying what species of ant this is. I was into ant keeping about 5 years ago for a bit then for some reason I lost the interest. But I’m back now! Anyways this species is one I’ve never had or seen before. I caught this small colony of this single queen and about 45 workers on the afternoon of July 17th 2021 in Virginia when it was around 80 degrees. The ants are black in color and TINY. She is VERY small aswell. Probably 5 mm if I had to make a guess. But I bad with size estimates so don’t go off that. The pictures are taken at an 5.4X zoom on an iPhone and the ants are in a mini hearth formicarium from Tar Heal Ants to help with size reference.

Re: Species identification in Virginia PLZ
I think your probably right. I did some more research and they seem to look like Nylanderia Vividula which are found in Virginia as well. Thanks so much for the help. Any idea on if this species has multiple queens though, if so I’d like to get her more workers at least.
