What is this all black ant?
I caught this ant today, and are 90% sure it’s a queen, but don’t know what kind. I couldn’t get a good picture, but it has that flat back a lot of queens have
I live in Alabama, near Birmingham https://drive.google.com/file/d/1eVya-9in3RbwZyOt9dOsY-6bggPIA1Tz/view?usp=drivesdk it was by itself up some where high, and I haven’t seen any other ants that looked the same anywhere near where I live

Re: What is this all black ant?
Looks like a carpenter ant minor but it could be a queen hard to tell.
My current colonies:
-Miniature Military(formica neogagates)
-Black Hearts(crematogaster cerasi)
In search of new camponotus colony
[Have a look at antmaps.org]

It is possible but I doubt that it is a queen. It looks like a carpenter ant. The queens are much bigger with bigger gasters.

Thanks, I did some research and i think it is a campanotus nearticus worker. I have never seen one before, but I did just move to the woods

The queens generally have a flat thorax. It’s hard to tell tho.
