Help Identifying Queen Ants

Hi all,

A few months ago, I caught a couple of queen ants of the same species but was not able to identify them. They already have a number of workers (close to 15) so this inquiry is a little late. The queens are about 1 cm (~0.4 inches) and were found in a Toronto residential area.

Below is a link to a photo of one of the unidentified queen ants:

The photo was taken about a month ago, and the workers in the photo are now about the same color as the queen herself.

Apologies if the photo is a little blurry, but these girls are puny.

Any help is appreciated. Thanks!!

Could you get a better photo of the workers?
Why keep ants that aren't found in your yard?
There are so many fascinating ants right where you live!
I disagree with the keeping/buying of ants that aren't in your area.
