Need help in queen confirmation and specie ID - Atlanta, GA
Hi
I collected what seems like a queen ant in Atlanta, GA. It was found in my backyard which is Soil/Lawn setting.
I think I see the wing scar in thorax. Is this a queen?
Based on my research, I think it is Solenopsis Invicta. Is it correct?

She looks like a queen to me, but not Solenopsis invicta that species has 2 petioles (the bumpy bit between the thorax and gaster) and yours seems to have only one? Can you give us any indication of her size?

I am leaning towards Camponotus subbarbatus but she doesn't really fit that picture. Is her thorax (back) smooth, or does it have a 'dent' in it? It is hard to tell from your picture.

I think it's smooth. I took a few more shots with focus on thorax. Could you please look if it's better?

Can you post your pictures in the Camponotus Crew thread? I could use their help trying to identify your ant.
