Northern California large ant ID
Hello. I found this ant in my garage today, in Northern California, Sierra foothills. Wondering if it's a queen. It's large, maybe just over 1/2" (13mm) long, quite fast.
It seems to be the reverse colour scheme of a carpenter ant to me. Is it a queen? My son would like to start a colony!
Thank you for any help you can give.
-James.

This is Camponotus sansabeanus.
An ants' strength can be rivaled by few animals compared to relative body size.
