I'm not familiar with species out west but I CAN tell you that it's definitely a queen!

woot my first queen. and it quite literly flew into my lap. found it flying in my house.

And could you make a foto from above.
Kinda looks like Brachymyrmex depilis
Lasius -niger -flavus -emarginatus, Messor sp., Myrmica sp, Camponotus herculeanus -aethiops, Pheidole spathifera -pallidula, Brachymyrmex sp., Pheidologeton diversus,

it does look like Brachymyrmex depilis

I had a B. delpsis queen, and I agree that it is most likley pne! Good luck! If you put them in with Tetramorium, sometimes they share the nest in the wild.
