Wondering if someone can identify my queen, I wanted to buy a Hybrid Lasius nest from AntsCanada store but i'm not entirely sure my queen is from the Lasius family (Lasius ******* I believe).
My queen is now 1 years and a few months old and it's her and 10/12 workers. also wondering if it's normal or if it's me doing something wrong.
Thank you for any information you can provide

Does your queen produce cocoons? And what color is she? It looks like she is kind of reddish.

By cocoons do you need the eggs? If yes then yes.
Dark browns, her bottom is stripy with dark and light brown and her head is dark.
I think the red is from the light I wouldn't say she's actually red but I could be mistaken.

Correct me if I'm wrong.
From the pictures it's hard to see the workers, but I'm positive they are all black except their thorax (middle section) which is dark red.
If that's the case I'm 99.9% sure that's Lasius Emarginatus (which can also be found in your country).
I had many colonies of this species in the past, and they all used to develop slowly. In 12 months I generally had between 10-25ish workers, so that could be normal.
Did you hibernate them last winter?

Keeping the following colonies:
- [2x] Camponotus Barbaricus
- [2x] Lasius Flavus

I'm really sorry for the late reply.
This pictures were taken not that long after capture, so an year and so old that's why there's no workers and those were the best pictures I had.
I also compared the pictures with the species that you said Lasius Emarginatus and I belive it's a match!
I did hibernate them last winter, they stayed in the dark in their test tube.

Somehow your pictures don't show for me, but if she's indeed Lasius, that nest would be perfect.Palinhe wrote: ↑Mon Nov 25, 2019 1:39 pmI'm really sorry for the late reply.
