Caught in Alabama Mid October

I am new to ant keeping and caught this queen October 12th in North Alabama. The length is around 8mm I would say. If the pictures aren’t sufficient I’ll try to get some better ones for you guys.

I think I caught something similar 2 days ago I think it's a slonopsis species but I'm not sure which one. It looks similar tone but mines a little smaller with a faster slightly smaller than yours.

watched a documentary about ants last night and they look very similar to your queen they where honey pot ants Myrmecocystus mimicus perhaps your queen is a member of that genus
1x Lasius Niger - early forging stage - 60-100 workers
1x Messor Barbarus - founding stage - <20 workers
1x Camponotus Turkestanus - claustral stage - 1 nanitic + brood
1x Odontoponera Transversa - semi-claustral stage - no eggs

I highly doubt it. She does look like a Solenopsis queen to me as well, as nmullen100 suggested. Here's an example of said species

Image

As you can see the "shape" is basically identical, except for the color, but that might be due to its sub-species.
Keeping the following colonies:
  • [2x] Camponotus Barbaricus
  • [2x] Lasius Flavus

indeed it does look solenopsis but in the opening post he states that the queen is 8mm in size which is about the size of a lasius niger queen and my solenopsis fugax queen was noticeable smaller than my lasius niger queen i'd say she was around 6mm in size

Thanks guys! I agree that it’s probably a solenopsis queen.

Sub-species queens can vary quite a lot from one another.
Solenopsis Fugax is generally tiny (around 6 mm) but for example Solenopsis Invicta is already bigger (even more than 8 mm).

Hey guys just to update I have a picture although it's an godawful one here and it looks very similar to his and it's probably a little smaller maybe 6 mm long. As said before I believe it's a type of solenopsis species

Thanks again for the help. Is there a tips and tricks somewhere on the forums for raising a solenopsis colony? They can be tricky from what I understand.
