Caught 2 queen ants in Johor Bahru, Malaysia mid-April this year. Photo here -- https://i.imgur.com/L8XUQEc.jpg
Unfortunately, one of them was not successfully fertilized as it hatched two alates and now I'm not sure what to do with her.
The other one had several eggs, two of the mature pupae were accidentally damaged (got soaked in water) during the transfer from the contact lens case to a proper tube. Two weeks ago, two female ants (no wings) hatched at about 5mm long. But checking the tube a week after, I found one of them dead and discarded at the cotton ball.
It's been about two and a half months since I caught them but it only hatched four (including the supposed two pupae that did not hatch.
WIth the very slow colony growth and the looks of the ants, I am thinking they're carpenter ants. But I hope you can help me confirm.
Thanks in advance, AC Family.
