Hello All. My son is very excited that he caught an ant, but Dad here has no idea if this is a queen, what species it is, does it need to be fed during the test tube process, etc. He's asking me quite a few questions. Any help would be greatly appreciated!
Thank you in advance.

I'm sorry I forgot to say that I'm in NJ. And if the link in my original post is broken this is the link to photo.

Help with posting the pic to get more response
I do not believe this is a queen, but there are some experts here who can give some insight into species.
Tell him to look for ones with larger butts!
This is a good depiction of a Queen on top
a worker on the right
and a Male on the left:
Another example you can show (Queen is the larger one, worker smaller):
Happy hunting!

Thank you very much for the reply. I would say we have a male on our hands here then as the queen in the pictures you have look a bit bigger. We will definitely be on the lookout for ones with bigger butts.GreenTikiFire wrote: ↑Tue Jun 18, 2019 10:52 am
