Is this a queen Ant? If So what species?

Hello All. My son is very excited that he caught an ant, but Dad here has no idea if this is a queen, what species it is, does it need to be fed during the test tube process, etc. He's asking me quite a few questions. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Thank you in advance.

I'm sorry I forgot to say that I'm in NJ. And if the link in my original post is broken this is the link to photo.

I do not believe this is a queen, but there are some experts here who can give some insight into species.
Tell him to look for ones with larger butts!

This is a good depiction of a Queen on top
a worker on the right
and a Male on the left:

Another example you can show (Queen is the larger one, worker smaller):

Happy hunting!

Thank you very much for the reply. I would say we have a male on our hands here then as the queen in the pictures you have look a bit bigger. We will definitely be on the lookout for ones with bigger butts.
