Here are two pictures that I was able to capture of a possible queen that I just caught in my house. She is about 20mm long. I had a hard time getting the camera to focus on her thorax, but there are definitely what look to be two wing scars present Her mesosoma looks to be larger than most ants that I've seen looking for a queen. I am thinking Camponotus, but I wanted to get opinions from you guys as well.
She kind of caught me off guard, wasn't expecting to find her just wandering around my bathroom...
it says board attachment quota full, so I'm attaching an imgur link to the photos...

I'm going to be transferring her tomorrow to a better quality test tube and should be able to get clearer pictures. I couldn't get the camera to focus through the plastic with this tube.
To my untrained eye, it looks like she has two lines (scars) that are symmetrical on the posterior of her thorax. They aren't parallel to each other, they gradually get further apart as you go toward her gastor.

It is a camponotus queen. Probably pensilvanicus or modac if the legs are red. but I don’t Id to the species level.
Keeping:
Tetramorium immigrans * Lasius Neoniger * Lasius Claviger * Messor Aciculatus * Myrmica Rubra * Camponotus Novaeboracensis * Camponotus Turkastanus * Pheidole Pallidula

This is the best I could get the camera to focus without glare. I can just make out what I think are the scars on her thorax.

Her legs may have a slight reddish hue to them, but mostly black.JoeHostile1 wrote: ↑Mon May 27, 2019 11:35 amIt is a camponotus queen. Probably pensilvanicus or modac if the legs are red. but I don’t Id to the species level.
