Hello!
My girlfriend was out trying to help some stray kitties (a mom and kittens) and came across a rather large ant. She caught it, but I believe it may be a major. Hopefully its a queen, she seems really excited!
Caught: Reno, Nevada, USA
May 15, 2019
About 18 mm length
Pretty sure its a Camponotus something
Thank you!

You could have at least posted a picture of the kittens man. Is the ant red in the middle? If so I would say it a camponotus novaeboracensis major worker. If it’s all black than camponotus pennsylvanicus. Or I could be completely wrong.

Keeping:
Tetramorium immigrans * Lasius Neoniger * Lasius Claviger * Messor Aciculatus * Myrmica Rubra * Camponotus Novaeboracensis * Camponotus Turkastanus * Pheidole Pallidula
